Welcome to the International Netsuke Society

European Chapter

The International Netsuke Society is a non-profit organization that supports the study of netsuke and sagemono, the artists who created them, and the Japanese society from which they evolved. Netsuke and sagemono are small finely crafted Japanese art objects developed starting in the 17th century and continuously thereafter. Treasured today by collectors and art enthusiasts worldwide, netsuke and sagemono are found in leading museums around the world and provide endless opportunity to learn about and appreciate Japanese myth, history, art, and culture.
